Experiencing tourism in a digital playground

When the Arabian Travel Market is in town, it’s time for international tourism brands to gather under one roof.

ADCTA (Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority)

Abu Dhabi Tourism could not be missed at the annual ATM event, showcasing the highlights of their beautiful city. We created a user experience featuring 360° videos on a rotatable screen, allowing visitors to get a “feel” of the city.

We created a 4D Virtual Reality experience, with VR goggles installed around a model of Sir Bani Yas island. We immersed visitors into 5 distinct experiences of the Island in Abu Dhabi.

There were several 4D activations for these experiences: for the horseback-riding and mountain biking experience, we used vibration pads to mimic a rough terrain. During the dune bashing experience, a fan gave users the feeling they had wind in their hair. For the barbecue and pool side experience we appealed to their sense of smell and sprayed mist on their face.

The theme of the exhibition was “The year of Zayed”. Which we commemorated with an interactive collection of digital photographs displayed on a big screen. A motion senor was installed, enabling visitors to enlarge images by hovering their hand in front of them.

Finally, as a signature guest book we created a digital application. Visitors could sign their name on the touch screen, generating a work of art they could then email to themselves as a memento of their visit.
